CG's Onion Bhaji Recipe

The term "bhaji" means fritter but in reality, they're only one tiny collection of interrelated pakora families, which includes a broad variety of tasty treats. Bhajis are the mainstay of the starter choices here, fried in chickpea batter and often eaten as a snack in its birthplace, usually with a good cup of tea. This deep-fried appetite is practically irresistibly and addictively crisp at its finest.

Ingredients

  • 2 onions, halved, core removed and thinly sliced

  • Crushed Corriander Seeds

  • Cinnamon Garden Onion Bhaji Masala

  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric

  • 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds

  • 1/4 tsp Fennel Seeds

  • Salt as per taste

  • Cinnamon Garden Roasted Cumin

  • Red Chilli Powder as per your liking

  • 60g Gram Flour

  • Freshly Chopped Corriander

  • Oil (Sunflower or Vegetable)

  • A Frying Pan

  • Finely Chopped Green Chillies (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Chop the onions and put them in a mixing bowl;

  2. Add crushed coriander seeds, CG onion bhaji masala, Turmeric, CG roasted cumin powder, Fennel & Cumin seeds, Chilli powder and finally salt as per taste;

  3. Add gram flour, spray a very small amount of water and mix all the ingredients until every slice of the onion is thoroughly coated with the masala;

  4. Now wet your hands and shape small amounts of the mixture into balls and place them on a plate sprinkled with some gram flour so they don't stick.
